Electrolytic Capacitor Manufacturer

An aluminum electrolytic capacitor is a capacitor that consists of only a few basic components: aluminum foil, electrolytic paper, an aluminum oxide layer, and two terminals (cathode and anode). Aluminum electrolytic capacitors maintain high capacitance within components by using polarity between the two terminals. The uses of aluminum electrolytic capacitors include energy storage and AC resistance.

Electrolytic capacitors (e-cap) are polarised capacitors in which the anode or positive plate is made of metal and the insulating oxide layer is formed by anodic oxidation. Due to their very thin dielectric oxide layer and enlarged anode surface, electrolytic capacitors have a much higher capacitance-voltage (CV) product per unit volume compared to ceramic or film capacitors.

At Aillen, we stock a wide variety of aluminum electrolytic capacitor products, including bipolarnpolar electrolytic capacitors, computer grade electrolytic capacitors, general purpose electrolytic capacitors, low ESR electrolytic capacitors, low impedance electrolytic capacitors, low leakage electrolytic capacitors, and more many. You can browse Aillen to search by capacitance, termination style, voltage rating DC, voltage rating AC, and more to find the right aluminum electrolytic capacitor for your electronic design.

Axial Lead Capacitors

The leads of axial lead capacitors are parallel to the capacitor body and exit from two opposite ends. Axial lead capacitors are ideal for low profile circuit board applications. Generally speaking, axial electrolytic capacitors are polarized, one lead is positive and the other is negative. Axial electrolytic capacitors can also be non-polarized, but they are not as popular as polarized versions.

Radial Lead Capacitors

Capacitors with radial leads have two leads exiting from one side of the capacitor. Radial Electrolytic Capacitor It is connected to the electrolyte and has undefined resistance to the cathode (ground). Radial electrolytic capacitors use very densely constructed rubber stoppers.

Screw Terminal Capacitors

Screw terminal capacitors have excellent ripple current capability. These are heavy duty, long life capacitors. Applications include switch-mode power supplies in general industrial electronics and professional equipment.

Chip capacitors

Applications for SMD capacitors include general purpose applications in the entertainment industry. They also have miniaturized dimensions.

snap-in capacitors

Snap-in aluminum electrolytic capacitors feature two or three-pin snap-in terminals, ideal for easy mounting on the application's PCB. Offers extremely compact size, excellent ripple current capability and long life. Typical applications include frequency converters, solar inverters, professional power supplies, UPS and automotive.

Applications

These capacitors are used in electronic systems to store energy, to smooth out changes in input voltage or to delay the cut-off of power to a circuit. They are rarely used for filtering, as they have a high resistance.

How to choose

The choice will depend on the required capacity, tolerance, operating voltage, series resistance, leakage current and type of installation.

About Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

Compared to other capacitor dielectrics, aluminum electrolytic capacitors are the cheapest type of capacitor and have the widest range of sizes, capacitances, and voltages. Due to its relatively high capacitance value, aluminum electrolysis has low impedance value, higher energy density than ceramic or film capacitors, higher power density than supercapacitors, and no peak current limitation. Typical applications include input and output decoupling for smoothing and filtering in AC power supplies, switch-mode power supplies, and DC/DC converters. They are also used in energy storage, power factor correction and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems.

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors consist of a wound element impregnated with a liquid electrolyte, connected to terminals, sealed in a can, and then aged to reduce or eliminate early failure. They have an extremely wide capacitance range and vary according to form factor, temperature and voltage requirements. Varieties and styles include molded and canned SMT devices, also known as V-chips; axial and radial lead cans, snap-in terminal cans, and large can screw terminals. Capacitance values range from 0.1 μF to 3 F and voltage ratings are from 5 Vdc to 700 Vdc. They are polar in nature and have distinct positive and negative terminals to aid in efficient and correct board placement.
